DREAM THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS: AUDIENCE ANNIHILATED PART TWO: GOLD STAR STICKER by Jeremy Menekseoglu

CHICAGO – Dream Theatre Company presents its award-winning, critically acclaimed horror play AUDIENCE ANNIHILATED PART TWO: GOLD STAR STICKER by Jeremy Menekseoglu at its Dream Laboratory venue located in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood at 5026 N. Lincoln Ave.

Part haunted house, part horror show, Dream Theatre once again shatters the boundary and blurs all lines between actor and audience with this chilling journey through a child’s horrific nightmare. Audience members will chose one of two roles to play. To play the lead role, chose Little Princess (with up to three other friends) and interact with the menacing figures lurking in the shadows. To be a part of the gallery audience of ten, chose the Babysitter role and watch to horror unfold before your eyes.

YOU sit on a small rug in front of a dusty television. The living room is smoke-filled and dim. The furniture is mismatched and is a mixture of battered estate relics and items rescued from dumpsters. YOU are watching a horror film. The kind of movie that is far too scary for a child of six. But MISTER BEAR is with YOU, and he can sometimes provide comfort. He is lying on top of the television staring up at the ceiling. He likes that. This is YOUR home, little princess. Welcome.

Menekseoglu’s immersive experience has been deemed a “poetic phantasmagoric” and “thrillingly too close for comfort.” The Chicago Reader recognized Audience Annihilated in the 2014 Best of Chicago awarding it Best 15-Minute Horror Show and calling it “the most chilling horrific 15 minutes I’ve endured in a long time…you walk away from the experience feeling thrillingly alive.”

AUDIENCE ANNIHILATED PART TWO: GOLD STAR STICKER will be performed Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from October 17th through November 2nd. This show will be performed four times each evening. Show times are 8 p.m., 8:30 p.m., 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Directed by Dream Theatre Company artistic director Jeremy Menekseoglu and featuring company members Anna W Menekseoglu, Jeremy Menekseoglu, Amanda Lynn Meyer, Nicole Roberts and Madelaine Schmitt.

Reservations are required as seating is limited. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased via the Dream Theatre Company website at www.dreamtheatrecompany.com. For more information please contact Anna W Menekseoglu at 773-552-8616 or by email at annainthedarkness@gmail.com or Madelaine Schmitt at 314-406-2686 or by email at madelaine.schmitt@gmail.com.

Dream Theatre Company is Best Off-Loop Theatre Company (2014, 2012, 2010) in the the Chicago Reader Poll. Other awards include Best 15-Minute Horror Play (Audience Annihilated Part Two: Gold Star Sticker, Chicago Reader Poll 2014), Best New Play (Chicago Reader, Peter Pan’s Shadow trilogy 2012 and The Agon Trilogy 2010), a Top 5 Show of 2010 (New City, Electra, part two of The Agon Trilogy) and of 2007 (New City, The Baby Killers), and a Jeff Award for The Black Ducking (2009).

Jeremy Menekseoglu’s plays have been produced in several major U.S. cities as well as internationally. He is currently working on a trilogy of plays and graphic novels titled DREAMCHILD NEVERIST in collaboration with renowned pop surrealist artist, Mab Graves. He is the founder and artistic director of Dream Theatre Company where most of his work has been presented as world premieres.

On Wednesday, October 29, 2014 (6:00-9:00 pm in room 120 of the DePaul Student Center), join us for our second annual Horror of the Humanities by welcoming Ben Wheatley: Kill List Screening and Q&A

The DePaul Humanities Center’s second-annual Halloween-themed event features a variety of avant-garde exhibits exploring the horrific in the mundane as well as the relationship between horror and various fields within the humanities. The exhibits highlight the horror of modern crises surrounding the environment, homophobia, race, gender and technology, among others. This year, the exhibits will be paired with a screening of the cult movie masterpiece Kill List and a talk and Q&A with the film’s celebrated director, Ben Wheatley.

Wheatley, who recently directed the two premiere episodes of the newest season of “Doctor Who” on the BBC, has helmed an impressive list of cutting-edge films, including SightseersDown Terrace, and A Field in England. We are honored to be welcoming him to the Humanities Center, and to be screening Kill List – a brilliantly nuanced work of art that investigates the nature of evil and true horror while also earning its reputation as one of the creepiest and creepily-thoughtful films ever made.

Details HERE.
