“Killer Workout is unequivocally awesome.” -Joseph A. Ziemba, BLEEDING SKULL! A 1980s Trash-Horror Odyssey
Already regretting those New Year’s resolutions? The Drop Box has the perfect excuse to cancel your gym membership– the supremely silly slasher flick KILLER WORKOUT (1987, dir. David A. Prior, 85 minutes). One of two in the uniquely ’80s sub-genre of “aerobics horror” (the other is 1989’s DEATH SPA, in case you’re wondering), KILLER WORKOUT is the definition of a guilty pleasure.
There’s not much in the way of “plot” or “character development”, but what KILLER WORKOUT does have is over-the-top performances, a killer tanning bed, a catchy synth-pop soundtrack, death by giant safety pin, and enough braindead hunks and blonde bimbos in (and out of) spandex to satisfy even the most jaded horror fan.
So slip on your leg warmers and join us at Emporium Arcade Bar on Sunday, January 19 at 10pm. With specialty brews by Tallgrass Brewing Co. on tap, you’ll be laughing your way to fitness in no time! (Did we mention it’s FREE?)

About Author Jilly Langham, A Mile Mayhem
“Meet Dr. Ian Bennett: newly minted vampire. Sexy, smart, successful – and decidedly single – Bennett focuses on his work at a Chicago hospital and on keeping his vampire tendencies in check. His life’s about to get complicated.”
Written while serving as advocate/caregiver for her husband during his lymphoma treatment at Northwestern Hospital, Chicagoan Jilly Langlan’s debut novel is just one way Jilly has taken a devastating experience and turned it into something good.
Set in Jilly’s hometown of Chicago, A Mile of Mayhem follows new and reluctant vampire Dr. Ian Bennett, a respected oncologist at a top local hospital. When Bennett’s patient, high-powered CEO Audrey Winslow, is attacked by a vampire and the vampire dies, Bennett is swept up in a fast-paced chase to fend off the malicious Great Lakes Coven and their plot to have a vampire elected as mayor.
Featuring familiar Chicago hot-spots like Old Town Social, Local Root, The Ritz Carlton Hotel, and a Streeterville hospital campus, A Mile of Mayhem lets readers catch a glimpse of Chicago’s dark side. A Mile of Mayhem was published through CreateSpace and is currently available in paperback and Kindle on Amazon.com.
