The Indie Horror Film Festival 2014
The Indie Horror Film Festival (formerly known as “Indy Horror Film Festival) returned from the dead in 2010 with hopes of swallowing mortals whole and filling their souls with a thirst for blood and horror. The Indie Horror Film Festival screens films from all over the world and brings the best of blood, gore and horror to the big screen for you to enjoy!
This festival is about more then movies however. We also feature the “Art of Horror” display, a “Scream Contest”, special guests, on stage performances and more!
The Indie Horror Film Festival is the sister festival of the Chicago Horror Film Festival. The event is produced by Breaking Fate Entertainment.

RESERVE YOUR TICKET & SEE “THE ASPHYX” ON THE BIG SCREEN!
Rarely shown in theaters, “The Asphyx” is a British horror film with a devoted cult following about a scientist who believes he has found a way to photograph the soul as it leaves the bodies of dying men. What he has truly found, however, is something far more sinister. Described as “genuinely chilling” by DVD Savant columnist Glenn Erickson, “The Asphyx” boasts eerie, atmospheric camerawork by three-time Academy Award winner Freddie Young (“Lawrence of Arabia”) and a gothic flavor sure to appeal to fans of Hammer Films and other classic horror movies. We need 75 reservations to make the screening happening (your ticket purchase is not charged if we don’t meet that limit). Read more details and get your tickets here:

Convergence 20 Chicago
“Welcome to Convergence Twenty Chicago! We are extremely honored, dark denizens of the Internet, that our city has again been chosen to continue the fine once-a-decade tradition of being your hosts for a weekend you’ll never forget! Sincere thanks to all who voted for Convergence Twenty Chicago.
Our core committee consists of a group of people with many facets of prior Convergence experience, from chairpersons to artists to DJs to event coordinators to performers to patrons and more. We all agree that the focus of a C20 Chicago should be primarily on organizing & delivering a gathering where friends from far & near will be able to spend time together, enjoying events based in the goth community. The activities we are coordinating include some Convergence customs and of course, as music is the tie that binds, we promise to bring you a fantastic bill of live performances & DJs.
Convergence kicked off in Chicago in 1995 and C1 set the tone for what has become the longest running event of its kind in North America. Bringing Convergence back to Chicago for C10 (’04) was such a treat! We still have a hard time grasping that nearly ten years have passed since then, which makes us all the more eager to bring the party back for C20! We expect & hope that such an auspicious anniversary will attract past C* attendees who may have had to forego more frequent “goth outings” due to the demands of work, children, etc; and not only the “old guard” but also the enthusiastic newer generation who do indeed keep goth going & give us “hope for a dark future.” The current state of goth is definitely smaller than it once was, but the venues & events we are presenting are suited well towards a modestly-sized attendance.
Tradition and experience are not the only reasons we believe Chicago to be the perfect choice for Convergence 20, either. Chicago is a world class city, centrally located in the US and therefore a major transportation hub. We are truly a very large (third in the US) metropolis while still retaining a more relaxed & “Midwest” vibe. Our populace is generally considered approachable & down to earth. The city is late night friendly & used to “alternative” people; boasts amazing & varied architecture & history; is a treasure trove of restaurants & shopping; full of parks, museums, art galleries; is made up of wonderful neighborhoods; inexpensive public transportation; miles & miles of bike lanes; and has miles of beachfront along Lake Michigan.
We have chosen the last weekend of April, 2014 for the C20 Chicago dates because the weather is generally “goth friendly” (temperatures average from 60F in the day to 45F over night; great for a light jacket, perhaps something in black velvet?) 😉 This is also before the tourist season begins which means more affordable travel & hotel costs as well as less congestion.
Again, we thank you for your support, as well as your friendship and presence! We’re all in this together- and we can’t wait to have a great time bringing you a great time!”

Fear City Chicago Haunted House Holding “Valentine’s Zombie Massacre Bash”
Fear City Chicago is holding an especially appropriate horror-filled Valentine’s Weekend event on Saturday February 15, 2014 from 7 pm to 12 midnight featuring music, dancing, cash bar and laser-tag zombie games.
What’s more romantic than killing zombies with the one you love? For those wanting an exciting alternative to the mundane red roses and chocolates of the traditional Valentine’s Weekend events, the crew at Fear City Chicago Haunted House are swinging open their gates and hosting a special event featuring locally popular disc jockey (DJ Scarecro), refreshments and heart-stopping laser tag games.
Fear City Chicago Haunted House and Battle Royale Laser Tag are teaming up to offer a new experience for the adventurous this coming Valentine’s Day on Saturday, February 15 from 7pm to 12 midnight. Open to those over 21, tickets can be purchased online at www.fearcitychicago.com for just $18 per person (or $20 at the door). Those wanting to have some fun can blast away their winter blues by playing laser tag in the halls of Chicagoland’s award-winning haunted house with a cast of creepy zombies. In the lobby, the music of DJ Scarecro will keep people dancing and entertained. A full cash bar will be available for those looking for another way to warm up their blood on a cold winter’s night.
Fear City Haunted House is conveniently located near Chicago’s northwest side at 8240 North Austin Avenue (between Oakton Street and Lincoln Avenue) in Morton Grove. There is plenty of free parking and the venue is easily reachable by public transportation and is just minutes off the Eden’s Expressway Dempster Street West Exit. The event will take place in the huge lobby of the haunted house with the laser tag games taking guests into the back alleys and hallways of Fear City, enjoyed by so many during Halloween.
Chuck Grendys said “There are so many people looking for an alternative way to celebrate Valentine’s Day that we had to put our creative juices to work and offer something new this February” and Jim Lichon added “People interested in haunted houses and attractions are crying out for this event so we had to listen.”
