Dark Chicago : Call for Contributors and Correspondents
You may or may not know that Dark Chicago consists of 5 primary websites and a bevy of affiliated sites. The primary sites are DarkChicago.com, ChicagoHorror.com, ChicagoVampire.com, ChicagoZombie.com and HauntedHouseChicago.com*. You may also know (or probably not) that most of the work on these sites is done by one person. It’s time to change that.
Dark Chicago is looking for a Few Good Creeps:
- REVIEWERS : Somebody with a qualified opinion** to consume and evaluate various forms of dark-themed media – movies, music, books, TV, etc.
- CORRESPONDENTS: Somebody to go to events and report back on what happened.
- PHOTOGRAPHERS: Somebody to go to events and provide photos of them.
- VISIONARIES: People who can intelligently discuss the future of the horror genre based on its current and foreseeable state.
To be clear, this is all volunteer-based. Nobody’s gettin’ paid around here (that includes the site owner/operator) – these sites are labors of love. HOWEVER, you WILL get:
- Credit for your work in a byline and soon-to-be-created staff page
- Dibs on choice shwag from companies like Lionsgate, Sony Entertainment, Anchor Bay, etc. – Did you SEE the cool stuff we got for Zombieland??
- First choice for premieres and advanced screenings of horror movies in Chicago
- Other considerations as things evolve
Interested? Contact Chad Savage at darkchicago@gmail.com to discuss it further. If you have samples of the kind of stuff you want to do, so much the better, but it’s not a requirement. Please help spread the word by posting this message or a link to it via Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, etc.
*Dark Chicago owns ChicagoWerewolf.com too; just need a reason to build it!
**Qualified opinion: You have to have a substantive background in horror so that you know what you’re talking about. If you think New Moon, Avatar or Friday the 13th 2009 were great movies, thank you and good day.

Zombie March Chicago 3
From the Official Zombie March Chicago Facebook Event Page:
“It’s that time again, zombies! We are having another zombie march in June. The rules are very simple: Dress and be made up as a zombie and just shamble and act like one.
We will all meet at Millennium Park and take it from there. The last few years we have walked to the museum campus, then taken a stroll down Michigan Avenue. We’re also considering having some zombie kickball or wiffleball.
If folks want their makeup done, Colleen Jones and David Lasley are available to take appointments. ( just message them)
More details will come as the march gets closer and closer, so start those undead gears a rolling folks!”
From Co-Organizer Colleen Jones:
The Chicago Zombie March is happening June 5 from 4-9pm at Millennium Park in Chicago,IL
Have questions or concerns about the march?
This is all the info for the march and any other info to your unanswered questions:
Where is the march starting?
Everyone who wants to meet for the march, meet at millennium park around 3:30pm by the bean
How long will this last?
Officially it will last from 4-8pm but you are more than welcome to leave before then or stay afterwards
Will there be a lot of walking?
YES there is going to be a lot of walking – it’s a march – that kind of comes with the territory so wear comfortable shoes
Is the Zombie March Chicago responsible for food, or if I get in trouble with the cops?
Even though we would love to help you out, you are ultimately on your own and you are just participating for the pure fun and mischief of the day
Do i have to wear makeup?
The point of the zombie march is to look like a zombie. You can come as a zombie slayer or a survivor, but be warned that you will be attacked by us zombies!
What if i dont have makeup or have no clue to do makeup?
You can contact myself, Colleen Jones, for an appointment (donation is asked for) makeup begins at 1:00 pm. I will also have a team of makeup artists so if you didn’t make an appointment you can get makeup done there or you can ask for tips on how to do makeup
How old do you have to be for this thing?
There is no age limit so zombies of all ages are welcome to join!
If you are planning to get your makeup done or you want to hangout with the undead before the march begins, meet at 20 E Randolph – it’s a parking garage and makeup will be done at the top level of the garage, which will be the unofficial meetup for the march. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask me Colleen Jones or drop a line on the group or event page.
We are still working out where the makeup spot will be but more for updates and to as where to RSVP for the event
