Dennis Hopper stars as a depressed sailor who falls in love with self-professed mermaid Mora (Linda Lawson) who lives in an aquatic hippodrome in the most squalid corner of the Santa Monica Pier. As if normal adolescent sexual anxiety weren’t enough, just imagine irrepressible nightmares with your girlfriend as a killer octopus!

PLUS: an episode of classic Chicago TV series “Diver Dan” (1961) on 16mm!

Chicago TV Legend Svengoolie in person, Children’s Halloween party, and more!
Flashback Weekend Halloween Party will feature Chicago Horror host legend Svengoolie in person! Svengoolie will be signing autographs, posing for photos, and introducing a 3-D presentation of “CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON”.

Other Halloween themed events include classic Halloween themed shorts, a children’s Halloween party including prizes, arts and crafts and games, a children’s costume contest, and more.

 Chicago Premiere of “CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON”  Digital 3-D restoration at the Muvico Rosemont 18!
Utilizing state of the art Sony 4K 3-D digital projection, a digital restoration of the original 35mm 2 strip polarized 3-D elements of “CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON” will be presented at the Muvico Theaters Rosemont 18 on Saturday October 28, 2012.  Digital 3-D technology will allow the original 2 strip 35mm elements and 3-D effects to be seen as they were in 1954! A 2K digital 3-D restoration will be screened.  Polorized 3-D glasses will be used by viewers, not the “Red-Blue” glasses.

ChicagoFilm.com Film Critic Lee Shoquist will present a pre-film introduction of the film at 4:00PM.  Lee will then introduce Chicago TV legend Svengoolie.  Following the screening, Lee will moderate a post film discussion and Q & A and discuss the many aspects which made “CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON” a historic and ground-breaking classic.
