From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood. The Lords of Salem tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a “gift from the Lords.” Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the “Lords of Salem” returning for revenge on modern-day Salem?

Room 237 Opens April 5 at the Music Box Theatre
In 1980 Stanley Kubrick released his classic horror film, THE SHINING. Over 30 years later, viewers are still struggling to understand its hidden meanings. Loved and hated by equal numbers, the film is considered a genre standard by many loyalists, while other viewers dismiss it as the lazy result of a legendary director working far below his talent level. In between these two poles, however, live the theories of ardent fans who are convinced they have decoded THE SHINING’s secret messages regarding genocide, government conspiracy, and the nightmare that we call history. Ascher’s ROOM 237 fuses fact and fiction through interviews with the fans and scholars who espouse these theories. Ideas of five devotees of the film with wildly different ideas about its true meaning are braided together in a kaleidoscopic deconstruction of the horror classic. Opening at the Music Box Theatre on April 5 – visit the website for showtimes & dates.

Chicago Author Martin Mundt Strikes Again
Martin Mundt’s Limited Edition Hard-Cover collection of horror and humor short stories called “The Dark Underbelly of Hymns” has been re-issued by www.darkartsbooks.com, also located here in Chicago.
Want to know what happens when a mime has Tourette’s Syndrome?
Want to know what happens when famous serial killers gather for a convention inside one man’s mind?
And did you know that every time a bell rings, someone blows his head off?
All these stories and more in “The Dark Underbelly of Hymns” at http://www.amazon.com/The-Dark-Underbelly-Hymns-ebook/dp/B00BPIE28W/ref=sr_1_3?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1364428361&keywords=martin+mundt
And while you’re at it, why not take a look at Dark Arts Books re-issue of Martin Mundt’s “The Crawling Abattoir”? Peter Straub said that “Martin Mundt is a nasty, warped, zero-temperature so-and-so who can’t put two words together without first snickering, then slitting their throats. This guy is far too hip for his own good. No wonder reading him is such a pleasure.”
Horror and humor for everyone who likes that sort of thing in one messy place.
Thanks for looking!
