techniques involved involved in creating
3-dimensional wounds, scars, & gore!

Students will learn the same techniques as used in
the film industry & develop an understanding of the
process that can carry them further in FX work!

About Instructor Ken Hertelin:

Artist Ken Hertlein has been working in Special Makeup Effects for over 20 years. Growing up as a huge fan of horror and sci-fi films, Ken’s took his passion for Special Makeup Effects and turned it into a career. For a decade, he worked as a self-taught artist on film and television, gaining valuable on-set experience. Ken’s work ultimately led him to becoming a personally trained protege of FX legend Dick Smith. Learning techniques and principles of Special Makeup FX from the master was nothing short of a life-changing artistic experience. Mr. Hertlein is currently working on two films and is a new transplant to the Chicagoland area! Amongst other works, he has worked on films such as “Moontrap” & also was associated with “Halloween: H20”
