The Dirty Show®, the world infamous erotic art exhibition will make it’s Chicago debut at the Viaduct Theatre on June 25 and 26, 2010. Fine art filth, paintings, photos and sculptures – with a preference towards edgier styles and themes – will dominate the theatre’s walls. Overall, the flavor is a polysexual, from plain vanilla to a spiked cocktail of kink, so whether you are straight, gay, bi or beyond – the show is certain to have something that will empower or devour you. How dirty is it? “Skintillating” works range from “Grandma Safe” to “Somebody is Going To Burn In Hell For This”.
The exhibition, which started in Detroit eleven years ago, has become, the largest erotic art exhibition in the world, (in terms of attendance and quantity of quality art). While the main exhibition in Detroit is every Valentine’s weekend, versions of the Dirty Show have sprung up in LA, Zurich, Sydney, Miami, and Vancouver. In addition to the closed-door art on the walls, The Dirty Show also features live in-your-face performance art – from bent burlesque dances to head-scratching contemporary think pieces.
Over 69 internationally renowned artists will exhibit, including Oscar winning Swiss surrealist HR Giger, best selling Taschen author Eric Kroll, horror icon Clive Barker and new contemporary contenders such as Steve Canaday and Gregory De Haba (whose piece is based on his controversial Art Basal installation). Criminally popular new artists, those Juxtapoz Magazine regulars such as Shawn Barber, Glenn Barr, Lisa Pettrucci and Colin Christian also contribute work, along with top eroticists Rick Castro, Steve Diet Goedde, Justice Howard, Frederic Fontenoy and Viva Van Story gracing every square inch of available wall space and then some.
For The Dirty Show’s Chicago debut, a number of local artists will also be spotlighted in the exhibit. “Chicago has amazing pool of talent. We are amazed at the work from the Second City artists who are contributing to this exhibition,” says Jerry Vile, the show’s creator. “This isn’t a show for everyone. Some might consider some of the pieces pornographic, but fortunately, they aren’t the kind of people that are going to attend. Those looking for porn might also be disappointed, it is more about the execution than the subject matter.”
The Dirty Show is sponsored in part by Zodiac Vodka. Zodiac Vodka is American made luxury potato vodka. The smooth tasting vodka is gluten free and now available in regular and Black Cherry.
With “cherry popping” drink specials from Zodiac Vodka, plus other surprises – this is a weekend of erotic art that patrons won’t soon forget!
