Legion Movie Review
God is “tired of all the bullshit” and fortunately for you He has something much more entertaining in mind than a flood for revenge. Like sending angels and droves of the possessed including a psychotic ice cream man, a knife wielding child and a foul mouthed granny (my personal favorite) to kill a baby that is the last remaining hope for the human race.
Luckily for Charlie (Adrianne Palicki), the woman who is carrying the baby, the Angel Michael (Paul Bettany) who was sent to kill them has decided to disobey God and protect her and the baby. Michael finds Charlie waitressing at a diner in the desert and it is here where they make their stand. Michael gets help from Jeep (Lucas Black) a chump who is in love with Charlie; Kyle (Tyrese Gibson) a patron of the restaurant; Percy (Charles Dutton) the diner’s chef; Bob (Dennis Quaid) the diner’s owner; and the many, many guns Michael has brought with him. While initially this makeshift crew does a good job of defending themselves, God finally pulls out His big gun and sends the Angel Gabriel (Kevin Durand) to finish the job. Michael and Gabriel have it out in a Matrix style fight, using his wings to block bullets and slice and dice in an interesting fashion.
You will enjoy the movie much more if you don’t read too much into it or spend any time sweating the religious parts of the storyline.
